Mannnnnnnnnnn, I do not know where to begin! I haven't got long to write much as I am in Rome and heading to the south (Tuscany), so bare with the shorthand style write-up.
As you know I have been swimming like a beast lately, 150 lengths a session, and training for a triathalon on top of all of that and my normal training..well, in the last two days I managed to swim miles to a pier in the worst conditions ever with my cousin in a canoe.. the weather took a turn for the worst and in the cosing 25 meters of the swim I was unable to swim away from he pier (which was standing on large concrete/metal pillars). The waves got up to around 13ft and I had the choice to either be smacked into a pillar by a large wave, or swim to one and hold on to it between the large waves... so I waited for a momment then swam straight to it. The waves were crashing full force against the pillar as I held like a Koala Bear shouting and screaming for help, another wave would come and I feared it would smack my head on the pillar or tear me off It and slam me into another one. I remember as I was trying to fight the tide a large crowd in the coffee shop on he pier were pressed against the window... I was thinking to myself YO this is the sort of stuff that happens on 999 lifesavers..I could see it now ... 'Johnny had been out in Frinton swimming for the second time in two dayswhen a he got caught out by the tide....' etc ahaha. Each wave that came covered the whole pillar fiercly with water and submersed me under water. I was cold at the point from swimming 1.5 hours and hardly had any energy. I feared for my life and have never been so scared as the water was coming in so fast and there was a strong sea wind. my cousin said I was shouting 'we need a boat we need a boatttttt '!He also told me once my shock had worn off that I aslo shouted MUM in my time of need ahahaha Man that is not cool, I shouted for mum! Anyyay I thought I was going to die so it i kinda justified! I managed, somehow (I have no idea how) to let go after being on the pillar for a good minute, and swim away from the pier a couple of meters against the tide towards my cousins canoe.
To cut a long story short, I was swam to the pier twice in two days. The first time was ok, and the second time I swam from Frinton to Walton pier assisted with my cousin.
Ambulances, Air ambulance, crowds, hypothermia, severed torso with extreme cuts all on my arms and legs.
And this morning to top it off I managed to get an allergic reaction to medication I recieved from the hospital and had to be rushed to a hospital in rome and get treated for it. MAN. what a couple of days. I have photos of the all the damage from A&E with all those wierd tubes and tests going on so I'll pop them up when I have time.
Hope everyone is well and having a Jolly summer!!! ho ho ho-
Glad I am alive to see everyon I love again! Apologies again for typos and such a rushed story. x
